Natalie Shaheen, Director of Education for the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute
Natalie Shaheen is the director of education for the National Federation of the Blind (NFB). Through her work with the NFB, Ms. Shaheen has developed and implemented STEM education programs for blind youth in elementary through high school, which have incorporated a broad range of STEM disciplines. Before coming to work at the NFB Jernigan Institute, Ms. Shaheen served as both a teacher of the blind and a special education teacher in a wide variety of settings. In addition to her educational and professional background in the education of blind students, Ms. Shaheen also draws from her own experiences as a blind student when designing and implementing instruction and programming for blind learners.
